This pine and poplar miniature dower chest, with precise decoration, was found in York County, PA. The chest, from the late 18th century, retains the original polychrome decorated surface. I am not aware of any other examples of this artist's work, but the quality of decoration leads me to believe that this was not his first or only work. The till lid and keyhole escutcheon are replaced and the lock is missing. W: 8.5", D: 4", H: 4.25".
