This vibrantly painted poplar blanket chest was made in Pennsylvania in the first half of the 19th century. The chest is in good condition retaining the original paint. The chest has had two locks during its existence. One lock is in the usual place on the center of the front of the chest, but there is a brass escutcheon on the front of the lid and evidence of another lock under the lid. Both locks are now missing. The chest measures 40 inches in width, 16 inches in depth, and 24 inches in height.
